Week in pictures
Guido Scholten (1994) is a scientific trainee at the Liberna Collection (Draiflessen Collection in Mettingen, Germany). The Liberna Collection, built by Bernard Brenninkmeijer (1893-1976), contains a beautiful collection of manuscripts, incunabula, printed books, prints, drawings and paintings, with an emphasis on Northern European art from the fifteenth through the seventeenth century. Guido completed two bachelor's degrees at VU Amsterdam: Media, Art, Design and Architecture (MKDA) and Public Administration and Organisation Sciences. This was followed by a master's degree in Art, Market and Connoisseurship.
Mon Kick-off the working week
#MondayKickOff
We start the week with our team meeting, where everyone reports on what the week will bring and gives an update on the projects and exhibitions he or she is working on.
Mon Databank work
A task less visible to the public, but for the museum an important part of our work is the inventory and description of old and new objects in the collection, such as prints, drawings and manuscripts
Tue Home office
The Draiflessen Collection also offers us the opportunity to work at our #homeoffice. For me personally, this is a great advantage because many tasks, such as reading or writing texts, work particularly well at home.
Wed Clip filming
After the opening of our exhibitions, the work for us (curators) is far from over: with our communication department, we regularly shoot #DraiflessenClips to be able to take our visitors virtually into the exhibitions.
Wed Designing an exhibition
For our new exhibition in the Draiflessen Collection, Caution, Glass!, I support my team in designing and creating the exhibition architecture because every exhibition requires a unique and special design and presentation. #CautionGlass!
Wed Give guided tours
In addition to our online channels, we also offer #guidedtours in the museum to talk to our visitors and share background information. It is always nice to be able to see and hear how the exhibition is being received by the visitors.
Thu Visit art fair PAN Amsterdam
Visit the #PAN in Amsterdam! Visiting fairs is always nice, both to see a lot of art, but also to meet colleagues, peers, and former fellow students.
Fri Visit other museums
My business trips often take me to other museums for inspiration. For example, I used my trip to Amsterdam for the PAN to visit the exhibition Blessings from Mousganistan in #Foam.
Sat Private life: Christmas Market
After a full working week, I often meet up with my colleagues and friends over the weekend. Of course, in December, we will visit the #kerstmarkt in Osnabrück – one of the many advantages of living in Germany. face-smile-wink
